Freedom Schools Mission

Freedom Schools embrace an educational vision for children that promotes academic enrichment as well as social, cultural, and historical awareness. Freedom Schools support the mission of the Children's Defense Fund and the Black Community Crusade for Children to Leave No Child Behind and to insure that every child has a Healthy Start, a Head Start, a Fair Start, a Safe Start, and a Moral Start in life and successful passage to adulthood with the help of caring families and communities.

Our Sponsor

Waymaker Life Strategies is a non-profit organization that has been serving children and families in the Sunnyside community since 1999. Our mission is to empower people with knowledge for successful living by providing education enrichment services to children and families beyond school hours. One way we reach this goal is by sponsoring the Children's Defense Fund Freedom Schools program through Waymaker's Youth Division, Houston's Youth Program for Enrichment (H.Y.P.E.).
