HYPE’s Executive Director, Brandi Brown, was nominated for the 2016 NAACP Image Awards Hometown Champion Contest. Although, she did not win the contest, it was a great experience to see how many people are HYPE about the work of our outstanding leader. Thanks to all of you who voted and got others involved.
The mission of HYPE Freedom School, Incorporated (HYPE) is to empower people with the knowledge they need to be successful and self-sufficient. We accomplish our mission by providing parents and their children with access to educational enrichment activities outside normal school hours. We specifically target minority and low-income children from one of Houston’s most disadvantaged communities through our summer program called HYPE Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) Freedom Schools® program. HYPE helps local organizations and churches to sponsor the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools program.
We’d love for you to join us in our mission. You can come visit our site, make a donation, introduce a family to our programs. Let us know how you want to make reading HYPE for Houston’s children!!
To succeed in school and life, children and young adults need ongoing opportunities to learn and practice essential skills. This is especially true during the summer months. -National Summer Learning Association
On this #givingtuesday , December 1, 2015, help us purchase books for children to read not only during the summer, but all year long. On average just $12 introduces our scholars to stories and heroes that will light up their minds and fuel their love of reading. Your donation will help us ensure each child we serve, will have a library of books at home.
Make a difference and make your donation count!
